Who's it for?

We work with singles, couples, folks with kids and kids at heart.

You don't need tonnes of cash or assets to get plenty of value from this session.

Most of our clients don't start off with it all sorted. That's why we're here, and we're ready to help you get where you want to go.

Why book

  • You're ready to define what "sufficient" means to you
  • You know something has to change if you want to get ahead
  • You want to make a plan to get you there (but you may need some help)

Experience has taught us that money is usually a repeat offender in creating limiting beliefs. We like to put it aside for a bit so we can focus on the things that get you excited and help you think big.

Our business Sufficient Funds, is at its core, a financial planning and mortgage broking business. But we spin things a little differently over here and it’s providing some phenomenal results for the crew we work with.

Our clients love this session because it marks a turning point in mindset. It’s not all about money. It’s a motivating, fun and rewarding session that’s about you - your goals, values and dreams.

No need to worry about debts, savings or income - let’s focus on your dreams. Start with the Defining Sufficient session. Finish with a plan to get you where you’re going.

Testimonials

"Amazing..."

James and the Team have been nothing but amazing! We started with a defining sufficient session with James, mapping out our goals for the next 5 years, reviewing our budget then setting up our life insurance. The whole experience was so simple and easy... Couldn’t recommend them enough!

- Jorden

"I couldn't recommend them enough..."

Randy, James and Laura are all incredibly helpful with all your financial needs. They were able to help me set myself up for financial success and explain things in a way that was easy to understand and make decisions with. They are super proactive and helped to take out insurance that was right for me and offered to assist refinancing my home loan to get a better rate without even asking. I couldn't recommend them enough!

- Kristy

"Open, honest..."

I am a 'My Millennial Money' podcast listener and was recommend James from Sufficient Funds as an ideal Financial Adviser for my current situations and future goals.  Our first complementary chat went so well and was incredibly positive that I had to complete my Defining Sufficient session. Within this session I was able to really map out and plan my financial goals for the next 6 months to 5+ years. However big or small, James guides you onto the right path of achieving those goals. He is open, honest and genuinely wants you to succeed. This session specifically allowed me to create a clear path of goals and tasks to get me where I want to be financially. I have never felt more confident and in control of my finances then when I connected with James and Sufficient Funds.

- Julia

"Couldn't be more pleased..."

We couldn't be more pleased with the service and outcomes provided. We have appreciated the clarity, professionalism and personal element throughout the whole process. So much so I have since recommended James and Sufficient Funds to my sister who is now getting her personal insurance sorted through them.

- Luke

"Great experience..."

Had a great experience with James and the crew at Sufficient Funds. I didn't have a straight forward situation but that didn't stop them coming up with a couple of different scenarios to get me exactly what I wanted and to save me money in the long run also. Would recommend these guys to anyone I know!

-Nick

"We now see a bright future..."

My wife and I were recommended James at Sufficient Funds. We immediately found his business very approachable and engaging. James shares like we do a young family so took care in securing workable and realistic budgets, cash flow plans and sorting the right insurances for our situation. For this we are certainly appreciative as we now see a bright future beginning to take shape.

FAQs

What does a Defining Sufficient session look like?

The session is up to 90 minutes and replaces the traditional 'first appointment' you would attend at many other financial advisers.

We’ll chat about your goals, lifestyle, current financial situation, and what the steps are to achieving those things on your list you always wanted.

To get the most of our time, we’ll send you an online form before your meeting so the session isn't tied up completing paperwork. It's your time to talk, dream, and explore instead.

Can I include my partner?

Yes, of course! There is no additional charge for couples.

If you are part of a couple and your partner isn't keen on joining, we can have the session with just yourself. Your partner is always welcome to join the process later if they decide they’d like some formal financial advice.

Sometimes one partner is more keen than the other to meet with us and get the ball rolling and that’s fine! Many of our most vocal advocates were hesitant to be involved but now they rave about the value and clarity they found during the session.

What do I get out of it?

We love seeing the session wrap up when you feel clarity and confidence!

The biggest benefit of your session is a clear, concise view of what you are working towards and how you’ve ended up where you are. The session is valuable for everyone - no matter what phase of life you're in, or your financial circumstances.

We follow up with a summary of everything we’ve discussed. You’ll get a list of options which may include things we can help with, a suggestion for our financial services, insurance plan, a referral to a third party for tax and accounting, wills and estate planning, or our rockstar in-house mortgage broking team.

I only need help with detailed questions about my circumstances and don't want to talk about goals.

Laws in Australia require all financial service providers to give formal, documented advice for all recommendations.

While we can provide you with general advice, we can't provide answers for specific, one-off questions.

This is for your benefit as all advice should be given with a complete understanding of your personal circumstances.

The Defining Sufficient session is the starting point for any formal advice you could benefit from.

Can you help me with specific advice on buying shares?

We're constantly building and implementing specific investment plans for our crew. This frequently involves the recommendation of share-based assets, e.g. managed funds (both index and active), Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) and other beneficial structures.

Note: we are not stock brokers so helping you to pick individual stocks/shares is not a service we provide, however we have a trusted network of referral partners who we can introduce you to as needed.

I don't have much in the way of savings or assets, is this still worthwhile?

Absolutely! You’re not alone.

We believe that the starting point to making great financial decisions is getting super clear on your goals, values and everything that motivates you.

The Defining Sufficient session is a standalone service. We've seen hundreds of individuals and couples with varied financial situations get heaps of value from this session.

We work with lots of people who are just getting started. Maybe we can help out by including a spending plan or debt reduction plan? This will put you in a much better position with your savings and other assets.

While this is a general advice session, our advisers add plenty of helpful tips for what you're working towards - no matter your starting point.

We pride ourselves on being approachable and relatable in a profession that can sometimes be quite daunting.

Am I locked in/required to continue with your services after my Defining Sufficient session?

Absolutely not! This is a standalone service for a fixed fee.

This fee covers our time and ensures that we are profitable while providing you with significant value.

We will provide you with a really clear outline of any future financial advice we believe you will benefit from, but this does not include any pressure to sign up.

I don't know what my goals are, is this going to be a waste of time?

This session is perfect for you.

Our clients love how comfortable we make them feel and our advisers have a knack for asking all the right questions. Their coaching will encourage you to dig deeper, explore your dreams and find the gold!

What if I'm only looking for financial advice?

The Defining Sufficient session is the main entry point to working with us.

The session is about working out your needs and goals. These form the basis of any formal financial advice to you if you’d like help moving forward toward your goals.

It can be booked as a standalone meeting with no obligation to continue with advice. Our clients find this session valuable because it helps to build the foundation for your goals and financial future.

How long is the session?

We set aside 90 minutes for it so we can cover everything you need.

The best part? You won't even need to get out of your PJs because it’s all done via Zoom.

How much is the session?

A Defining Sufficient session is $440 and payment can be made securely via credit/debit card on the booking page.

What services and fees are likely to follow?
